It is highly likely you will need to give a Hybrid Presentation in 2022.

Are you ready?

The percentage of people that have given a hybrid presentation so far is pretty low.

I believe this percentage will increase dramatically over the next few years.

There are a range of reasons for this – flexible working, improved technology, some Covid restrictions could remain, reduced travel budgets, businesses having a focus on net zero.

These factors are not temporary.

When all these factors collide, it is clear that not everyone will be in the office and equally clear that not everyone will be willing to attend every event in-person.

If not everyone is in the room for your presentation (but they have in interest in it) then by definition we are into hybrid presentation territory.

It is possible that the majority of presentations you give in the future will contain a hybrid element.

A lot of the attributes that make a great ‘in the room’ presentation are necessary for a great hybrid presentation, but they are not enough.

A lot of the attributes that make a great ‘online’ presentation are necessary for a great hybrid presentation, but, again, they are not enough.

A hybrid presentation is a different species. In order to succeed, you need attributes from ‘in the room’, attributes from ‘online’ and a number of specific hybrid attributes.

It is tougher and more demanding than other presentations.

You need to be highly skilled and perform at a higher level. Get this wrong and you satisfy neither audience.

You could invest significant time and resource yet still create a negative impression.

Most hybrid presentations fall into this category.

Herein lies the opportunity – get this right and you will immediately stand out compared to other speakers and competitors.

As a speaker, delivering a winning hybrid presentation gives you a confidence like never before.

As a business, a hybrid presentation gives you an opportunity to reach a wider audience while still having a networking experience with your in the room audience before and after.

I have spent many years delivering hybrid speeches as a politician and training hybrid speakers as a coach. In that time I have developed dozens of techniques, tips and exercises to help people sharpen their skills.
