Want your audience to actually use the ‘chat box’ in your next virtual presentation?
Want to know how to break the chat ice?
Do the following to boost your chances.
Many audiences can be hesitant at the start.
It’s easier for them to hold back, and they’re conditioned to do so.
You need to break the cycle – as early as possible.
The key is this: walk them through the process before asking them to do it for the first time.
Give them step-by-step instructions.
And sound enthusiastic if you want them to follow you.
There are basically four steps on most platforms:
- Tell them to scroll up (or down) on their screen to locate the chat box.
- Get them to click on the chat box.
- Invite them to type their answer, question or response.
- Instruct them to click ‘enter.
Guide them through these steps, one at a time.
And you will be pleasantly surprised at the increase in active engagement.
If this happens early on, then you just broke the cycle.
The chat box, used wisely, can work wonders for your presentation.
Four simple steps. That’s all it takes. To break the chat ice.
Give it a try!
